FAQ  **Currently only providing virtual care services

Why choose in home, private speech therapy services?

· No waitlist... we can often get started as soon as you are ready.

· Flexible hours... depending on availability, we offer sessions as early as 7:30am and as late as 5:30pm.

· No set number of sessions, no breaks in sessions.

· We do our sessions in the same environments where the client will need to be using and practicing these skills.

Do I have other options?

· You are always able to choose a speech-language pathologist, and consent to or decline services, at any time.

· There are government funded speech and language services available, for preschoolers, children, and adults.  We ensure our clients are aware of their options, and are able to utilize these services, if needed.

· We often see individuals who are on waitlists for government funded services, to accomplish some of their goals while they are waiting.  When they are able to access funded services, with our client's permission, we share information with their new speech-language pathologist, to allow for services to start where we left off.

· Sometimes, clients return to us, if they need additional services after accessing funded options.

Do you work with someone who has difficulty with ______?

· When you first contact us, we will ask you questions about your specific concerns and needs.

· The field of speech-language pathology, involves many different aspects and areas of communication needs.

· We will inform you if we are able to provide services for you, or if we feel we do not have the right type of experience for your needs.  If this is the case, we will provide you with information for other SLPs.

· If we begin working together, if at any time we feel that we do not have the skills and expertise needed to best serve our client, we will refer you to another SLP.

Will we need to do homework?

· Yes.  However, it is rarely formal worksheets that you have to sit down and complete.

· Is communication, speaking and understanding something we do everyday?  Almost all the time for that matter.

· It is very important to practice the skills we are working on in sessions, on a regular basis, similar to any time you need to change or break a habit.

· We will make sure we figure out ways to practice, that can be worked into your everyday activities and might even be fun!

Is it okay if other family members or siblings are home during the session?

· It is usually really helpful, as part of the assessment, to see how the client communicates in the comfort of their everyday environment, including with the people they are often with.

· We encourage other people in the client's life, to watch and learn about what we work on together.

· Sessions are usually fun and engaging, and can often include siblings.

· If siblings become a distraction, we have creative ways of ensuring our sessions remain on track, not to worry.
